Wool Fun Facts

  • Wool is a renewable resource. Sheep grow a new crop of wool each year, making wool cruelty free.
  • Wool being used for the first time is called "Virgin Wool." Virgin wool is used exclusively in our blankets.
  • Lofty, virgin wool retains it’s original resilience and thickness and will last for generations with proper care.
  • Wool is fire resistant, naturally. No chemical treatments needed. Unlike most artificial fibers, which often melt and stick to the skin when on fire, wool usually only smolders or chars. It normally self-extinguishes when the flame source is removed.
  • Wool has millions of air pockets that trap warmth. It is a soothing, natural warmth, yet light in weight. It wicks away body moisture for dry comfort.
  • Wool is odor resistant.
  • A Woolen blanket has no flying feathers, as you find with down.
  • Wool is usually non-allergenic. Sheep and their wooly coats do not have the dander present that can cause allergic responses like dogs, cats. etc.
  • Wool is naturally resistant to dust mites.
  • Wool is safer for all ages than an electric blanket.
  • Wool is an energy saver. You can lower your thermostats while your woolen blanket maintains a comfortable, warm environment.
  • Wool is also a recyclable resource. Wool blankets are almost forever!!
